I grew up there. From the early 1960's. Graduated from WHS back in 1979. My Dad taught at WCJC. My Mom an Dad have both passed already but I will always have fond memories of growing up in Wharton. 😊

What a bleak, dead looking place! I can never understand these comments on youtube city drive arounds. Freeport looks like a place that a judge would sentence you to go live in. There is literally nothing there but gas stations, run down homes and oil refineries. He didn't show the "beach" at Surfside, and for good reason. It's dirty and not clean at all.

Lubbock is good for college students and medical students. Farmers are even sick of it. They might live in Lubbock but they travel out of town a lot. There is nothing to keep people here. Retirement town but boring. Most young folk that work here - don’t live in the city limits. They come in from surrounding small towns that have nothing.

I was raised in Galena park on center 7 st moved out of Galena in the 80’s And from this video I’m lost this doesn’t look nothing like the Galena Park I was raised in. Back when I was still in Galena Park we had eddies barbar shop on Holland st then Middleton Super Market on left side of center a drug store and a old movie theater on the right side of center been many years ago I finished school their galena park high school started kindergarten their finished high school their I still remember the old address there remember Galena park all my childhood memories their my home town Galena park

I'm a native Houstonian and I've been through many hurricanes, but this is the first time I've even been through something like this. It will take a while to recover. But the city will pull thorough together. We always do.
